The power of the French woman. I attended a cocktail party years ago hosted by The Film Society of Lincoln Center. The guests consisted of the usual jaded New Yorkers but then something unusual happened, Catherine Deneuve walked into the room.
Blasé eyelids opened wide and the energy in the room was electrified.
It had nothing to do with her fame, it was her self assured presence that commanded attention and owned the room.
I have never seen anything like that before or since.
